What Has Your Focus?

public.jpeg

What are you looking at?!? I mean, I know you’re staring at your phone, or your computer screen right now, but that’s not what I’m referring to.

I guess the better question is, what has your focus? I know that sometimes, it can seem like you’re being hit from every side.

Said this lately?

“If it ain’t one thing, it’s anotheR!”

I’ve definitely been in that place lately. You know, that place that makes you look up and ask God, “Ok, what is really going on?!?”

I know that it’s important to focus on God, and not the problem.

While the above statement is absolutely true, it’s a lot easier said, than done. In those times where it feels like everything is going wrong, and you can’t see how God is going to come through, it can be hard not to focus on your situation.

For days, I’ve wrestled with what to say on my blog. I’ve been stuck on how to encourage you to stay focused, when it’s been a struggle of mine lately. I realize that the best way to inspire is to just be real 💯 . We all have our ups and downs.

Focusing too much on our situation, can cause us to worry, and I have found myself worrying a lot!

The word of God asks us this question…

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
‭‭
— Matthew‬ ‭6:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Of course, the answer to this question is NO.

So then the question becomes, how do we worry less, and focus on God more??!

God revealed to me that I had the wrong perspective about this topic. I’ve been trying to focus on God, and the promises of His word. At the same time, I’ve been beating myself up because, I still find myself worrying and becoming anxious about how certain things in my life will work out.

God had to remind me of this…

Choosing to “focus on God”, doesn’t mean that you’re never going to feel worry, fear or anxiousness at times. What it DOES mean, is that even through these emotions, you still CHOOSE to seek God anyway.

You do this simply by remaining consistent in your relationship with Him. When you don’t know how things are going to work out, when you don’t know when God is going to answer your prayer, and even when you don’t understand what God is doing, remain faithful.

Continue to pray. Continue to praise. Continue to worship. Continue to fast. Continue to read your Bible. Just continue! Don’t give up!

Consistency is keY! 🔑

Push through your emotions. Push through your tears. Push through the confusion.

Remember this…

WHATEVER YOU MAGNIFY WILL GROW!

God wants us to focus on Him, because He knows that when we do, we make Him BIGGER. The bigger God becomes in our lives, the smaller our situation looks.

No matter what you may be facing today, know that God is greater than ANYTHING. Make a daily effort to set your focus on Him. The situation that you’re worried about today, is just an opportunity for God to show you, that NOTHING is too big, or too small for Him to handle.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you promised to never leave me, or forsake me. I pray that you will strengthen me during my trials. For I know that when my faith is tested, that my endurance grows. Help me to focus more on you, and not what I’m facing. Help me to see with your eyes, so that I may see things through your perspective, and not through the lies of the enemy. Give me the strength to not be led by my emotions. I choose to keep my eyes on you, because I know that you are working everything out for my good. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭(NLT‬‬ ) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭(NLT)‬‬ And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Philippians‬ ‭4:8-9‬ ‭(NLT‬‬) “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
