The Weight of the Wait

IMG_4040.png

How many of you enjoy waiting??? I know I can’t physically see you right now, but I’m seriously doubting that anyone reading this, will say that they just love to wait.

Waiting definitely isn’t one of my favorite things to do. Back when I was in basic training, we always used the term, “hurry up and wait”. It was like we were always in a rush to get to a certain destination on time, only to have to wait once we got there. Although the phrase applied to military training, I started thinking about it recently as it relates to life.

Many of us are rushing to get to our “next”.  While we’re ready to have those things that we desire NOW, many times God will make us wait.

The weight of the wait can feel so heavy at times. The wait can sometimes make you feel like you’ve been forgotten, and even abandoned. Sometimes it feels like the things we’re waiting on will never happen.

But why does God make us wait?

Although waiting on God’s promises to be fulfilled in my life has been difficult at times, I know that it is in the waiting season, that God is preparing me for the things that I am asking for.

What if your wait is taking longer than you expected, because you’re meant to have a greater impact on the world than you could ever imagine. The best warriors may require the most extensive training. It’s not to harm you, but to strengthen you for where God is taking you.

Remember that God knows exactly what He is doing, and God’s timing is perfect. We must continue to follow Him, and be obedient to His voice, and He will lead and guide our footsteps.

For those who find themselves still waiting, don’t give up on God. God wouldn’t give you that desire, if he didn’t plan on making it a reality.

God knows exactly when you’re child will be conceived, and brought into this earth. Your child will arrive right on time.

God knows exactly when that door needs to open, to take you to that next level. The opportunity will arrive right on time.

God knows exactly when you will meet the spouse you’ve been praying for. Your husband/wife will arrive right on time.

God knows exactly when the healing in your body will manifest. Your healing will arrive right on time.

God isn’t slow in fulfilling his promises. Yes, the weight of the wait can be heavy, but God never intended for us to carry the burden.

When you look around, and see all that God has done for you, everything that you have been waiting so long to see, and experience will be worth it.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for my life, and everything that you have done for me. Thank you for giving me the grace to wait with expectancy on you. I bind the enemy, and every thought that is contrary to the truth of your word. I give you every weight, and burden that I am carrying, and in exchange, I accept your peace. You alone are worthy. I declare today that I believe. I believe in you, and I believe in your word. Everything that you have promised me shall come to pass. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Today’s Reading: Isaiah 40:31; Habakkuk 2:3; Psalms 27:14

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT): But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Habakkuk 2:3 (NLT): This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

Psalms 27:14 (NLT): Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
