Broken Beauty

While reading over many of my old blog posts this week, God has been reminding me of some things as it relates to purpose. God always bring me back to the true purpose of this blog, and that is to help “unveil the beauty in others.” Another word for unveil is to uncover, or to unmask.

God wants to unveil the beauty in our lives. He wants us to display those things that He has put down on the inside of us. One of the ways God does this is by uncovering or unmasking those things in our lives that can hinder us from being, or becoming all that He created us to be.

There are things in us that God wants to die, so that other things can live. These past several weeks, God has been showing me things about myself that…let’s just say, don’t feel so good. There are certain ways of thinking, certain attitudes, and even certain feelings of rejection from my past, that I have been accepting, and living with, that God wants to change.

I realized that as far as I have come on my spiritual journey, that there are still things within me that still need healing. There are broken areas that need mending. There are old mindsets that need renewing, and there are old habits that need to die.

Even this week, I said some things that God had to correct me about, and that I had to repent for. I began to feel guilt, and shame about it, but God reminded me that he brings about correction out of love.

God wants to heal our brokenness. One thing God revealed to me in prayer this morning, is that many of his children (especially his daughters) are hurting. On the outside we look fine, but on the inside there’s an internal struggle. We can hide our hearts from other people, but we can never hide the true condition of our hearts from God. He wants to heal us from…

Insecurity

Low self esteem

Guilt

Shame

Fear

Anxiety

Rejection

Control

Jealousy

Hurt

Lust

Anger

Rage

Pride

and anything else that prevents us from being all that He has called us to be.

Some times these things may seem so subtle, or even non-existence, but all it takes is for the right situation to arise, and you wonder where did these feelings come from. We may think that we’re over certain things that have happened in our lives, but some things are deeply rooted.

You may not even realize that the low self-esteem you’ve felt for years, happened as a result of something that was said to you when you were a child, that has stuck with you into adulthood.

You may not realize that the fear you feel, happened as a result of something that you witnessed, or experienced that you didn’t think had any affect on you at all.

You may not realize that the feelings of rejection you feel, happened as a result of a broken relationship where you were constantly hurt and betrayed.

I could go on and on, but my point is this, God wants to uproot anything in us that is preventing His beauty from being revealed within us. God wants to heal us. The wonderful thing about our brokenness is that none of it will go unused if we yield it to God.

God wants to take those broken areas, and use it for His glory. Know that when God sees you, He sees the beauty in you. Whatever areas in your life that need to be fixed, healed, mended and restored, God is able to do! A new season of freedom is here! Do you receive it?

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am so grateful that you love me as I am. I am even more grateful that you love me enough not to leave me where I am. Thank you that I am growing each day, and by your spirit, you are teaching me to be more like Jesus. I yield my brokenness to you. I give you all of me, and I give you permission to unveil the beauty that is within me. Remove anything in me that is not like you, or that isn’t pleasing to you. I declare that I am free, healed and restored. Show me who you created me to be. Show me the beauty within me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
